Gecko and money
My Gecko costs my Mum $12 every month. That’s for the
cost of having a Gecko itself, without me even using it. (She’s paying it
off over 2 years, which means altogether a Gecko costs $288 plus the cost of
my Gecko handset. . . that’s a lot of money to a kid like me!) A Gecko
doesn’t have any ‘free minutes’ like some adults phones, so my Mum also pays
for all the calls I make. All my calls cost 20c for every 30 seconds I’m on
the phone.
My Mum’s always telling me that she’s not made of money, and that money
doesn’t grow on trees (which must be right, ‘cos we live on a tree and
otherwise we’d be rich)! So she gives me a budget to stick to and from that,
we work out about how many calls I can make. I try my hardest to stick to my
budget. I think my Mum’s great for letting me have my own Gecko, and I know
I’m very lucky to have one. I don’t want to upset my Mum by going over my
budget (and I don’t want have my Gecko taken off me either)!
If you just got a new Gecko, or your Mum or Dad are thinking about getting
you one, I hope that you’ll be a responsible owner too. Trust me, life’s
easier that way…if you know what I mean! |
