How Gecko’s school & charity offer works:

1. If your school or school community organisation agrees to participate in and support our school and charity offer, they’ll be allocated a unique promotional code.
2. You can then take advantage of a free Gecko phone and mesh pouch. Simply place your order, choose your plan and quote your school’s unique promotional code. (You can look up the promotional code here if you don’t know it.)
3. To activate a Gecko phone you will need to complete the online account application. Creating an account involves some pretty standard stuff: you need to be over 18 years of age; undergo and pass a standard credit check; and have a valid credit card (which you provide for monthly payments).
4. You can sign up for one of three plans: the 'Bare Bones' plan has a minimum charge of $12 a month with no included calls; the ‘Happy Wallet $19.95 a month Plan’ is for light to moderate users and includes 35 minutes a month of talk time;
   the ‘Rest Easy $29.95 a month’ plan is for heavy users and has 70 minutes a month of included talk time. Switching between plans can be made (monthly) at any time during the 24 month term. Gecko recommends starting with the ‘Happy Wallet Plan’, which works out more cheaply for most users.
5. All you need to do now is activate your Gecko on a plan, and after you get your valid Gecko telephone service number, your school will receive a cheque for $10 towards their chosen fund AND the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Australia gets one for $5!
6. Now that all the formal stuff’s out of the way, it’s time to look forward to your free Gecko phone and bonus mesh pouch arriving at your nominated address! Your Gecko is dispatched once your payment is cleared, and you should receive the delivery within 2 to 4 business days after dispatch.  Home or work addresses are fine, but please note we can only deliver to physical addresses, not PO boxes.
7. Start to feel very pleased with yourself about the peace of mind you can now enjoy, and the $15 you’ve just contributed to a couple of very worthy causes!

Gecko’s school & charity offer Terms and conditions:

Naturally, for an offer as good as this one, there are a few stock-standard terms and conditions that come with it. Gecko have nothing to hide, so we want to make sure you have all the info you need before you decide whether a Gecko phone will be a great help to you and your family! So without further ado:

The offer:

1. Upon Activation, eligible Participants will be entitled to receive a new Gecko handset and a new Gecko accessory mesh pouch. Both the phone and the pouch will be delivered directly to the Participants nominated address.
2. Eligible ‘Schools’ are entitled to a $10 cash back rebate from the ‘Promoter’ upon the ‘Activation’ of the ‘Product’ by the ‘Participant’ through participating Schools during the ‘Promotion Period’ by providing ‘Personal Details’ to the Promoter. Cash rebate will be in the form of a cheque made out to the School and mailed to their supplied address within 30 days of activation of the new telephone service.
3. Within 30 days of activation of a new service under this offer the Promoter will provide a $5 cash rebate to the CHFA.
4. For this offer:
    
   • Participants: means a resident of Australia who is at least 18 years old and who purchases and activates a Gecko within Australia during the Promotion Period.
   • Promoter: means Cicada Mobile Pty Ltd (ACN 117 809 131) of Suite 9, 7 Rosebery Place, Balmain NSW 2041.
   • Activation: means establishing a mobile phone service using the new Gecko handset and the supplied SIM card on an approved Gecko plan.
     Proof of activation shall be a new service telephone number. Participants can activate their new phone via geckoworld.com.au/schoolsoffer by following the Gecko activation prompts. To activate the phone applicants must be over 18 years of age; have valid ID; undergo a credit check and have a credit card. Full details at the website.
   • Promotion Period: means a period commencing 25th May 2007 and ceasing on 31 August 2007.
   • Personal Details: means sufficient to identify the Participant–as a minimum Name, Age, Address and either email address or mobile phone number.
   • Product: means a new Gecko kids’ mobile phone.
   • School: means the School which has agreed to support this offer and make it available to Participants.
   • CHFA: means the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Australia.
5. The $10 rebate and $5 donation applies to each activated handset; there is no limit to the number of rebates for an individual Participant who satisfies the Terms and Conditions of this offer.
   
   The Mechanism
6. A schools unique promotional code will be allocated to each participating School.
7. Within 30 days of a Participant signing up to a new plan (which activates a phone), and where a School promotional code has been notified upon activation, a $10 rebate cheque will be mailed to the participating School and a $5 cheque will be mailed to the participating charity.
8. Only activations during the Promotion Period are eligible for the phone, accessory and rebates.

9. The Promoter takes no responsibility for lost, late or misdirected mail.
10. Claims for rebates are subject to verification by the Promoter and the Promoter’s decision in relation to matters contained in this offer is final.
11. Only one rebate per recipient will be accepted for each identified phone service.
12. All information required to allow the Promoter to fulfil the rebate becomes the property of the Promoter and is subject to the Promoter’s standard privacy policy which may be found at http://www.geckoworld.com.au/fine-privacy.htmm
13. Unless a Participant requests us in writing not to use their details, by participating in this rebate offer the Participant is consenting to the use of their information provided for marketing purposes by the Promoter. This information will not be on-sold, rented out or used by any entity other than the Promoter or a business or entity directly associated with or controlled by the Promoter.
14. The Promoter will use the contact information supplied to contact the Participant if there are any queries or issues in relation to the rebate.
15. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss), or for personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with this offer, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
16. This offer is limited to 4,000 participants only.
